Re: Leveling a Bermuda Lawn

I am almost 14 days post top dressing and have mowed once.. I don't feel like i achieved anything with the top dressing in regards to leveling/smoothing out the undulations and bumps. There wasn't any undulations too severe and i know I was short on sand by about 1 yard. I did not take into account ...

Re: Verticutting with a "sharpened" Sun Joe

I was wondering about doing this. I gotta say, the 0 setting looks great.

I've never verticut with a true verticutter before, but that's exactly what i had pictured it looking like when done correctly. I know what i'm doing now... thanks for posting about this.

Rented an aerator from HD, Aerated twice, picked up and disposed of the cores, reel mowed at 5/8", applied my (late) 2nd application of prodiamine (quarterly rate).

Re: Is it just me?

I gotta be honest here. The fault lies on both parties, in my opinion. You're self proclaimed OCD is probably part of the reason for the poor service or the cause for the inflated price for the 2nd visit. Most likely their view of you as a customer is you're not going to be satisfied no matter what...

Didn't realize places sold sprigs. You don't learn this stuff with common bermuda!
Are you even allowed to have a Hank Hill avatar if you're from Oklahoma?

Tahoma31 is my ideal grass... I'm holding off on buying any sod/sprigs until it become more available.

Re: Upgraded Backpack Sprayer Pump

When you build your boom how many nozzles are you planning to use? Just 2 nozzles, i only have 5k sq ft and some of that space is pretty narrow. Nice work! You could look into a 12v lithium-ion battery pack to bump the run time back up while keeping the size the same or less. I'll look into that, t...

Does anyone bring their plants in or let them die to a freeze and re-plant indoors ~4 weeks prior to the last freeze? I've overwintered jalapenos for the last 4 years. cut them back almost to the stalk.. leave just a few leaves then move them indoors or into a garage. I leave mine in the garage ove...

Upgraded Backpack Sprayer Pump

I went full "Tim the tool man" on my backpack sprayer this weekend. I do not advocate tearing into your backpack sprayer and changing the pump. The sprayer i have (My 4 sons) specifically designs their sprayers for ease of replacing every component in it and offers these components at reasonable pri...

Re: Fill in bear spots in Celebration Bermuda

typically you would just take plugs from one area and move them to a bare spot, or you can use stolons and "transplant" them using a hole made with a screwdriver. For 1400 sq ft you should be able to use either of those methods for any bare spots you have.

Re: 2019 | What did you do with your lawn today?

Got in a cut on the front with the reel (that's 2 cuts in a row) and she ran and sounded sweet! I didn't use the basket as I had just cut 3 days ago and wanted to give the lawn back some of the nutrients before I lay down some disease ex to see if it helps some lingering spots... If you think you h...

Re: Chilliheads

Had a hail storm come through last night. Most of the plants lost some leaves and some smaller branches but I think they’ll be fine. I don’t have high hopes for my Ghost pepper though. The top got taken off and she’s only 4” tall now from the 7” or so she was before the storm. depending on the stag...

even if some of the bermuda does make it through, i don't foresee it lasting longer than a season due to the amount of shade it's going to get.

Re: Prevent Urine Burns

you can use molasses diluted in water to help draw some of the nitrogen out of that spot possibly preventing the severity of the burn.. I'm not certain on the rates as i've seen @Greendoc suggest it before.

Re: Toro Greensmaster & Greensmaster Flex Resources

So after being torn between a JD and a Toro I am now a part of the Toro GM1000 family! I ended up finding a 2008 GM1000 that was sitting for a while but overall is in good condition. It needs a little cleanup, servicing, sharpening, etc... But for the price I couldn't beat it. Can anyone tell me on...

Re: TifTuf lateral growth - 1 month

i seriously doubt it will fill in by end of season no matter how much Nitrogen you push. i concur with wfrobinette i have never seen sod laid like that, you will have raised squares exactly like you have now until you take on a leveling project. sod is typically laid like a blanket and even then wi...

At this point it's almost laughable the amount of issues you've ran into. I'm not trying to be mean about it and feel for you but, at some point you've got to find some humor in it.
