Re: Effective squirrel repellent?

The ones with ears of corn like wheel spokes or do you mean the bird feeder that spins the perch when something heavy as a squirrel jumps on to eject them?

Re: Effective squirrel repellent?

Took the puppy out the other day and 3 either red shoulder or broadwing hawks took off. Betting they were lured by the songbirds and squirrels, as well as the rabbits living in the forsythia.
We have lots of critters and predators, have to keep the chickens locked up.

@BobLovesGrass my squirrels don’t dig in the snow. Yours look relentless.
I should be clear, at this point I am not really deturing them. Is an oak they are under, one property line is black walnuts.
Enough hawk pressure around they don't spend all day put in the open like that.

Sunflower seeds don't repel them atall.
Cayanne mixed with seed slows them but does stop them in my experience.

Re: Handheld tools!

I have an ego leaf blower i like it a lot and it is manageable by my under 5' tall 80lbs girls, have come home from work to find they did cleanup just for the fun of a pile of leaves. I have the 530cfm model and the trigger is slow to respond to inputs, believe this is one of the things improved on ...

Re: Top dressing clay with compost. Is it worth it?

Some professionals advocate fert and mulching, root cycling will build organic matter down into the clay. Mulched clipping will add to the top. No risk of brining in new weeds or unknown chemical contamination this way.

Re: Must-Have Kitchen Gadgets?

I dove into the sous vide thing, bought the Anova WiFi version at introduction. Don't think I have used it in a year. It is more forgiving but IMO a steak just straight up cooked over charcoal is better. Thermoworks products are top notch, our kitchen doesn't work without the MK4 and I recently stum...

Re: How to stop mower from blowing leaves away?

Opening the side chute may let the big leaves get pulled in. Yes mulching is better closed but if stuff is blowing away and not getting pulled in it isn't mulching.

Re: Rabbits eating grass

Rabbit poop is great fertilizer right away, will not burn the lawn, no worries on that part.

Being in the cool season section may I guess KBG? That recovers from my movable chicken coops pretty well, can't imagine loose rabbits over grazing it to the point of killing.

Re: Raccoons got me!

In some states it is illegal to relocate racoons, they spread disease and are territorial to the point they will kill each other if relocated to another territory.
Take a look at local laws.

Re: Your last mow?

@BobLovesGrass oh wow, that is pretty late. I work with a guy, who insists on mowing in the middle of winter, when the snow melts but the ground is still frozen. I spent an hour bagging with the push mower this morning and was getting some clippings yet. Lawn is dry hopefully the rain today helps i...

Re: Too late to try and ambush my clover?

If using Tenacity as a pre-emergent you shouldn't be spraying it with post emergent foliar applied products. Clover really needs a surfactant otherwise stuff slides right off. If you really want to use Tenacity as pre-emergent do it separately so you can water it in. You understand it has a short wi...
