Hopefully Workers Comp doesn’t see this video. Your rates will go up.

Re: Shindoman's Lawn Journal

Not much new to report. We’ve had nothing but rain up until a couple days ago. It’s filling in slowly but there is some thick bladed Annual ryegrass that has taken hold that annoys me. Still a few bare areas where it’s wet and doesn’t get any direct sun this time of the year. Pulled some quack grass...

I actually agree with @TulsaFan GASP !
Stay away from the old vintage rare mowers. Get the Jacobson.

Re: Reel Mower Edger

That thing is interesting but looks like it needs some love. If you end up getting a reel mower with both front and rear rollers you may be able to get away without using an edge trimmer. I have my lawn set up that I can cut right to the edge and then I use a old fashioned lawn edger to cut vertical...

Re: Swardman Electra Verticutter Mod and Guts on Display

I think the Swardmans are what I expected them to be. They are designed and engineered to be a residential mower. I really wanted to buy an Electra but I balked because of its light weight And what seemed to me to be flimsy construction. But to get a cartridge mower that was more robust I had to spe...

Need help identifying this grass

I have this clumpy grass that has popped up in just the last few weeks. It must have just germinated since I killed everything in August. Seems to show up mainly in the thin areas of my new renovation growth. Here’s a few pics: https://i.postimg.cc/rmLffnMj/2783708-A-EFF8-426-A-9-F8-B-DBA32931-D51-D...

That’s doing well. By next season you won’t even remember the bare areas.
@SNOWBOB11 thanks for the positive re enforcement.
For years I’ve always had a thick full lawn. It’s killing my OCD to have to look at this! 😆.

Re: Shindoman's Lawn Journal

It’s drying up somewhat. Still had a few days of rain lately. It’s growing and filling in but slowly. I’m sure I’ll have some bare spots until the spring but I guess considering we had almost 5 inches of rain in since I seeded it doesn’t look too bad. I’ll keep feeding and cutting it. Hopefully it w...

Re: Overseeding with bentgrass instead of fighting it?

I’m doing a renovation but with a Fine Fescue, Colonial Bent blend. Colonial is an upright growing bent, not a creeping type. Bent and Fescue seem to be the dominant grasses in our micro climate. All the very old lawns in Vancouver are FF/Bent. I’ve been trying to transition for the last 2 years but...

Re: Shindoman's Lawn Journal

So looks like sun is on the way. Unfortunately colder temps with it. Lows in the forties. We had over twice the average rainfall for Sept. already. it’s growing but very slowly. Hoping the second round of seed drop germinates soon. https://i.postimg.cc/mgBr4vyN/48-E234-CE-7542-4-EB3-88-B9-94573-C045...

Re: Shindoman's Lawn Journal

Day 20. More rain. It just won’t quit. Got a dry day yesterday but back to more rain today. I cut for the first time yesterday. Dropped some more seed as still have lots of areas that are thin. At least it’s still warm, (highs in upper 60’s). It’s growing but not fast enough for me. Feeling disappoi...

I’m a true believer in aeration. I would buy one but my buddy is a landscape guy and he comes twice a year for $40 each time so it doesn’t pay for me to buy one.

Since I bought a drag mat, I don’t really use the leveling rake. But I have a top dresser that does a great job of putting down an even layer to start with.

Re: For those who change their own oil (vehicles, not lawn equipment), how do you handle tire rotation?

Tire rotation happens when I put on my winter set. Same in the spring.
I bought a Milwaukee impact but always tighten with a breaker bar and finish with a torque wrench.

To be honest, it sounds like a out of round reel. I’m sure the dealer will make it right.
