Re: Dahlias

Well after some slight research I settled on these for my first go around. https://i.postimg.cc/T2BdJ2MP/Screenshot-20191202-151248-Chrome.jpg Got a good deal on em too $30 for 10 tubers (2 of each color) and only $5 for shipping. I'm sure after this year I'll buy more and of different varieties. I ...

Posting this video here for posterity.

This video is exactly why I wanted to buy some. Had any luck from online sources?

I know its annoying to dig up, but the fact that you get more and more is awesome.

If you can’t get seed to establish in those areas what makes you think sod will survive??? You successfully grew it in other areas, why did it fail in those isolated spots??
In hoping the sod would survive because it is more mature than a freshly germinated seedling.

Re: Reno bare spots.. sod?

I think you should use a pro plugger (or a bulb planter ) to move some plugs from other areas (the back of the backyard). You have TTTF, so no spreading from KBG. You will need to add more seeds, but at least the plugs will help cover the larger areas. I have looked into buying one, but what is the...

Re: Reno bare spots.. sod?

I am doing a lot of guessing here, but... I have some reservations about attributing that pattern of growth to shade. It looks like you have small dead spots surrounded by grass that came up well. To me, that suggests something about the spots themselves rather than the area in general. I’ve had a ...

Reno bare spots.. sod?

Well it's been about 8 weeks since I seeded TTTF and I have a few spots in my yard that have seemed to have died off or struggled from the start. The area in first 2 photos is in my front yard right on the border of my neighbors "yard". It has really struggled from the beginning. Very much a sprout ...

Hey there @@Oregonseed

I like to "google" my varieties in my seed and from the little research I've done it appears that Falcon IV and Rendition RX are rhizomatous Tall fescue. Do you have any knowledge about that being true? Thanks

well done mate. thick and lush. do you have an irrigation system or just sprinklers?
Just the cheapo melnor oscillating sprinkler from home depot. 5k sq feet, I usually get the corners by hand then set it up in 2 places to get good coverage on the yard.

Re: 2019 Reno Results

Thank you guys, it definitely wasn't easy. I battled upper 80s and low 90s throughout the whole thing. Not to mention my wife wanting to kill me for always having to drag the sprinkler around 😂

Cant believe the crew didnt recognize baby KBG and at least consider calling since you already cancelled other services. Hope everything works out. How frustrating.

2019 Reno Results

Just wanted to share my results I have gotten after a kill off and TTTF seed. Pretty happy with the outcome! I seeded with a local TTTF mix on September 3rd https://i.postimg.cc/C5yv00Jx/20190902-065018.jpg After seed down I put out Scott's starter fertilizer with weed preventer at bag rate. Followe...

Re: Cool Season Weed ID Thread - What is it and how do I kill it?

@Ecubed, looks a lot like clumping fescue or some kind of KY31. My alternative guesses are annual rye and quackgrass (I'm not sure if those are auricles I see or not). Those are my best guesses, so see what you think. My first thought was quack as well, but the auricles don't quite clasp, very clos...

Also I'd like to add, the lack of rain has been awful, I've never had to drag sprinklers around so much on an overseed. Hoping mother nature can give us a day off

Re: Ksturfguy Fall 2019 Reno

Days like today suck for a reno. It's currently 91 with a heat index of 97 and I'm just now watering. I did get a small amount of watering done this morning at 7 am but couldn't sneak home from work today and got home late so went several hours without water and dried out a little. Hopefully wont a...

Re: Neighbors lawn is killing me...

I'd be ecstatic if my neighbors lawns looked like that. I currently deal with an absolute infestation of crabgrass on both sides and in the spring it's a jungle of dandelions.
