Awesome work! The pattern is perfect for fall. It’s great that your neighbor brought the golf cart over to make it “official.”

Do it up! What was your dollar spot pressure like under regulation? What’s your irrigation schedule like?

It’s so cool seeing the work you’ve done and how you picked these cultivars. Brilliant execution.

Shutting down the journal for the season. Only mowed twice in November so far and each mow only produced 0.25" or so clippings. It really slowed down fast this year compared to years past. Might have 1 more mow left, mostly just for cleanup. Will probably put the winterizer N (planning 1 lb of N pe...

Re: Wile's 2021 Lawn Journal

Its been a while since I've been able to mow. Way too many things going on and lots of projects to finish in the next couple months. I would say the grass is around 1.5-2" tall. I do appreciate how even the grass has grown. That really wasn't the case the last few years. It seems that most of the fe...

First frost. As much as it’s disappointing that the season is almost closed, it is also a relief. Next week air temps look to be back in the high 50-60’s. So maybe one more mow. Need to protect the Japanese maple with some burlap tonight. https://i.postimg.cc/RhNjJkv2/0-A63514-B-1492-419-F-8932-7-D5...

Re: CaffeinatedLawnCare Lawn Renovation (Midnight, Mazama, Bewitched)

Started lowering the HOC the last couple mows, took it down to 1" today. Can't really get it any lower without scalping way too much. Actually scalped a couple little spots with the rotary trying to get it down to 1.5" to reel mow it. You can definitely see the rifling from the Fiskars at ~1" cut. ...

Re: Washout, PRG next?

I wouldn't trash it. I would still use it. Pre-germinating should save you 1-2 weeks of time. That is really helpful in this instance. I can't speak to how rye would handle in the TZ but it may survive with the right conditions. KBG takes a good 1-2 years to get going and fill in. So if the rye didn...

Re: Washout, PRG next?

It's not ideal to walk on seedlings and areas that area really wet would cause indentations that will need to be leveled out later. However, if you do you'll want to walk lightly, no sharp turns (rip the seedlings out of the ground), and I would try to avoid the newer seedlings patches so you don't ...

Re: Wile's 2021 Lawn Journal

Jeff_MI84 maybe try mowing around 2” and the collars at 3.25-3.5. I bet that would give enough visual difference. Mine tend to be longer in a lot of the pictures which helps the contrast, but I just mowed them a couple days ago. The infield hasn’t been mowed and there still is a definition line bet...

Re: Wile's 2021 Lawn Journal

Jeff_MI84 you're right. I think mine was born out of keeping mulch out of my way more than just looks. But tbh I like the look and I get a slight workout from using the manual reel. I would like to do a a really low cut main section and a fringe in between the collars. In order for it to stand out ...

Wow, the density is looking great! Still awesome color for the "lack" of sunlight. I'm in the same boat. The grass is growing really slow and we just started getting cool air temps, but ground temps have dropped the last month a lot. The late dollar spot damage hasn't filled back in, but I'm not too...

Thanks @Jeff_MI84. I enjoy the game, but don’t play that much. Thinking about it more though. If I added a putting green it would probably help my short game a bunch. How about you?
