Re: Humic DG

Cetnor851 I would wait for AM Leo to run a free shipping promo or you can sign up for their "Gardeners Edge" website newsletter and get a free shipping promo. They're frequently out of stock on just about everything but you'll eventually get it. I sent them a little bit of a spicy email about a HyR...

Re: Greasy Neighbor Caught In The Act

You did the right thing. Now, if you would've shouted out his first, middle and last name, like mom did when you were growing up, his spine would've stiffened, looked over his shoulder for her and legs turned to jelly knowing he was caught! Life's to short, ignore him and move on...but find out his...

its very unlikely that you would have killed your grass spraying only humic. what did you mix in the backpack sprayer before you used it for the humic?

Re: Fescue in shade

 I got caught trying to oversell clover. Restated: Clover is a nitrogen fixer, it takes nitrogen from the atmosphere and eventually puts in the soil for your fescue. If you want to kill it then more power to you but I just wanted you to be aware that it's not the worst "weed" you could have in ...

Re: Fescue in shade

@NWGALawn706 I wouldn't worry to much about clover. I have it as well but am afraid to go after it because I don't want to damage the good stuff. Clover is a nitrogen fixer, it take nitrogen from the atmosphere and puts in the soil for your fescue.

Re: Chicago Hardy Fig tree - what should I do?

Awar Do you remember if the wood hardened off last year when we went into winter? When it hardens off the the green new growth goes from green to brown. If you have green wood going into winter then the green wood will likely die but the plant itself will still be alive. I know you didn't intention...

Re: Fungicide: Preventative vs. Currative

tgreen You are correct about turf disease being overwhelming. I think the only way to figure it out is to keep and open mind and try different things until you find what's right for your climate and turf type. I read about the importance of rotation in different groups to avoid building a tolerance...

Re: Brian's Mega Build & Journal

A quick glance, if you are sure it is not a fungus, then the ratio of iron to Mn could explain it. I would try applying just iron (FAS and not FEature) to see if you notice a response. Their recommendations seem pretty good. The CEC is on the low side, so half rate applications twice a month are be...

Re: Brian's Mega Build & Journal

The yard is looking pretty good still. I got worried last week when we didn't have any rain and high temps but the rain earlier this week has really helped. No more heavy doses of Nitrogen till fall, ordering Hyr BRIX Pasture fert for the calcium as well as FAS ingredients from Amazon to get rid of ...

Do you already have the azoxy? If not you may want to consider this, same as Axozy 2SC.

Re: Fungicide: Preventative vs. Currative

Here's a good video on it. It's not 100% relevant because you're not in the transition zone but I would take bernstem advise have it on hand for when it's needed. This would include reading the label ahead of time and knowing exactly what the plan will be. I have fescue in GA did my last N applicati...

Re: Help with fungus after 2 apps of fungicide

Awar Have you done a soil test? I looked through my journal to see what was going on last year. I'm north of Atlanta in Marietta but guessing we probably have similar soil. Paul from the GCF Channel had similar results and he's way down in Greensboro. 2019 analysis showed off the chart iron levels ...

Re: Help with fungus after 2 apps of fungicide

@Awar I feel your pain. I'm in GA and have done two apps of Propiconazole & Azoxy 2SC, still seeing fungus in my yard. It's not a big issue yet but disheartening to say the least. I'm starting to think it may be a nutrient deficiency in my case.

Nothing beats the Corona Blues like listening to the "80's Pop Radio" on Pandora. Caught myself standing at the window earlier while listening (singing along :shout: ) to Alone by Heart. Look at Nancy getting after that axe...go on girl!

Re: Brian's Mega Build & Journal

@Grass Clippins Things are looking tight man! :) Hope you are doing well? The temps in May this year were a lot cooler than last year. I ended up putting down my first fungicide app (propicanazole, strobe, & adjuvant) on 05/16. That may come back to bite me, we'll see. I did notice some lesions on ...

Re: Reducing Transpiration With Chitosan

@ktgrok Some of these people growing dope are practically agronomist with the stuff they know about soil science. When I was researching it ... ... it sounded like a lot of these growers are moving away from hydroponics and back to soil. Apparently it's a competitive market place.

Re: Reducing Transpiration With Chitosan

TC2 I believe they used lactic acid in the study to dissolve the shell. Citric acid didn't do much but then again I didn't let it sit for long. If I went at this again I'd just throw out crab meal and let the bacteria do all the work. I guess the benefit of getting it fro ully dissolve would be to ...

Re: Reducing Transpiration With Chitosan

ktgrok Yeah...I think that O2-YS products are probably more suited for agriculture than turf management unless you have money to burn and can siphon it into your irrigation. I concluded that the juice isn't worth the squeeze. I have heard about people using Crab Meal (Chitin) in gardening to fight ...

Re: Brian's Mega Build & Journal

BakerGreenLawnMaker The verdict is still out on how it handles the heat overall. The heat wave and drought last May really messed me up. This year the weather seems to be a little more typical so I should get a good read on how it handles the heat without irrigation. I will tell you that it did sig...
