Re: 2020 | What did you do with your lawn today?

The only thing I did with mine today was walk around looking at dog poop to see if we could find any puzzle pieces. We’re not reclaiming them but 38 are missing and we’re pretty sure it was the dog. Speaking of, its time to scoop up again. I would find the turds that look like corner pieces first. ...

Re: 2020 NCAA Basketball Discussion

I’m sure not many of you have been following Iowa basketball but if you want to see a hard nosed big man you need to check out Luka Garza. Rarely does a game go by that he doesn’t end up bleeding from somewhere. He may be the most underrated big man in the country. In two games against a ranked Mich...

Re: Can you help me diagnose what is happening here?

We built our house two years ago here in the Kansas City area. After a recent snowfall a hole in our front lawn appeared (see pictures) and a couple times water has flowed out of it irregularly, leading me to think a drainage pipe has broken -- not a broken sprinkler run. There is no odor or foul s...

What I am trying to store in the shed... Either line them both up like this (minus the bagger) or have the honda sit sideways.

Don’t the Honda’s have the option to store them vertically once the handle is folded down? Or am I thinking of the Toros?

Re: Losing My Reel Mower Virginity...

My son and i got the mower assembled Saturday morning and of course had to try it out. The weather was beautiful so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to cut a little grass. I was really pleased at how easy the mower is to push. Very smooth. We slowly took a 100 sq ft area of Bermuda from 2.75” to 1...

Re: Best direction to build a home?

Our front porch faces east-ish. Early morning sunrise coffee is nice out there. Luckily we have large evergreen trees directly behind the house so by 515 the back deck is almost fully shaded. I really like this setup as we can move into the area with sun on cooler afternoons and stay in the shade on...

Re: Heating Season Thermostat Setting?

I have the thermostat to drop to 68 at bedtime, bump to 70 when it’s time to wake up, and then drop to 64 when we leave the house. It bumps back up to 70 before we get home. I’m not convinced that the energy used to go from 64 to 70 is less than if it just stayed at 68 all day. I may have to try it ...

Re: Bermuda in the winter

My son and I tested out our new fiskars reel mower on about a 100 sq ft area this weekend. We took it from 2.75” down to 1”. I was amazed at how much green was down at ground level.

Re: Losing My Reel Mower Virginity...

I don’t think he’ll be able to putt on 1” but it’ll certainly look great! I know it won’t be golf course quality but he’s been putting on 2.75” so I figure it should be a little better. He just does it for fun. No real practice involved. Plus it will be good for him to take care of something and ha...

Re: College Football 2019 Season Discussion Thread

Well, I had no idea at the beginning of this season that LSU would end up being Number One and in the National Championship Game against Clemson. This will be a very interesting game, and two teams that truly earned the right to be there and play each other. GEAUX TIGERS! I hope LSU puts 70 on them...

Re: What Bermuda Seed and Why?

Glyhphosate or nothing... Glyphosate and glyphosate and glyphosate and glyphosate and glyphosate and glyphosate. Then hope you've already died or sold the house before you notice that some of the common is still alive and coming up into the new lawn. ;) I can concur on this. Common Bermuda is a bea...

I'd argue that your current lawn looks better than your target. The color is better.

The snow method would not work here so i have only used the liner method. It’s only a couple of hundred bucks for the liner each year (and a very angry trash man when it gets thrown out each spring).
You should invite him to skate on it. Maybe he will get a better appreciation for why you do it.

Re: Losing My Reel Mower Virginity...

I have the 18” fiskars. I double cut 8000 sqft for two months with it at the end of summer. I liked it. Easy to use and adjust. I got it to get my KBG blend down to 1” so that I could pick up with a greens mower next summer. Thank you. Everything I read about it made it seem to be a good mower. The...

Amazon Capitol One Points...

Not sure how many people here have one of the Capitol One cards that qualifies but Amazon recently started allowing the use of Capitol One points to pay for purchases. As long as you have the card linked to your account it will show you how many points you have. It’s literally as simple as clicking ...

Losing My Reel Mower Virginity...

I have two small areas of my lawn that I have been wanting to let my son take care of so he can putt on them. The two areas are fairly level but not flat if that makes sense. I ordered a fiskars 18” stay sharp manual reel last night. Any advice on the mower from anyone that has had one? I know it do...

Re: Questions on Buying this Reel Mower

This is my first post on this forum. Found this 10 Blade Mclane Reel Mower on Craiglist for $295. The seller said he is selling it for his brother because he moved and doesn't have the correct grass to use it. He said it is around 5-6 years old and runs good. He said he replaced the 3.5hp to a 5.5h...

Re: Does CEC affect preemergent?

Sounds like CEC is not impacting efficacy, and I should switch to 3 month rate for Prodiamine and add Simazine. Can I tank mix and put both down at the 3 month rate at the same time? Spectile Flo would be nice but that's going to be a though sell with the wife. I tank mix both. The only thing to co...

Re: Does CEC affect preemergent?

I believe simizine, pennant magnum, and spectile Flo(very expensive) are much better. Can any of those be combined with prodiamine? I know some take a similar approach in how they prevent the seed from reaching viability and could cause root curbing as if I'd over applied prodiamine. I had massive ...
