Re: Seeding Bare spots - Matching Color

if its just that area then dig that area up and see whats going on; maybe we are just overcomplicating it with how you have started this thread and perhaps theres just more nutrients or a lowpoint in the yard that contributes to it being darker overall than just grass type instead of putting down fo...

Re: Seeding Bare spots - Matching Color

Haven’t seen much on spreading rhizonmous fescues revebtly besides barenburg or some speciality ones which i don’t think they put into blends such as rhizing moon, valkyrie LS, titanium LS, traverse sls, amongst other silly names It’s tough to rely on spreading fescue when you know you seeded for kb...

Re: Which grows faster, KBG or TTTF

It really depends on the variety on how the maintenance is; certain ones are need to bred low of high maintenance for certain applications (people who hate mowing) I think KBG does excel most of the time but so many demands need to be met for that to even happen with sunlight, water and nitrogen So ...

Re: Lawn reno: non germinated bare spots, what to do

You can try to do a topsoil and compost seed mix to pre germinate then throw it down to at least give it a extra boost to even things out

Re: Tenacity after overseeding?

1. If I see patches where the seed did not germinate well, due to TONS of rain the last 3 days, when should I wait to put more seed down? You can put more seed down or wait til more rain starts it to germinate its hard to actually determine if it’s washout or if it actually is just under the soil an...

Re: Tenacity after overseeding?

Thanks for the replies. I saw everyone putting tenacity down at the overseeding time and thought why? Tenacity is a post emergent. I wanted a pre-emergent to stop the weeds coming up. Like you said, the deed is already done. I am getting really good germination already and there has a been a lot of...

Re: Tenacity after overseeding?

Figure out what rate you put prodiamine and try to get the amount on here to see what we can see on the residual on how long it will last; prodiamine lasts longer in cooler temps! So its not going to be going away any time soon like in the summer and for aeration it doesn’t break up the soil that mu...

Re: New Grass Fert - Liquid or Granular?

If you have the spreader and the acreage then do granular; if you have the tank sprayer or backpack sprayer then do liquid People are over complicating it and do whichever is more convenient. Most industrial applications like liquid since water is highly acquirable and can be used to dilute things t...

Re: Tenacity after overseeding?

Why did you put prodiamine before? Did you not ask what to do and what not to do before seeding? There’s potential for harm and too much damage to root development so i would allow things to develop as is and wait; we cannot determine how well aeration is able to break the vapor barrier of your prod...

Re: Installed rachio 3 and expanded zones recently

I assume both come on if you turn on either zone. Check the connection at the controller. You may have the two zones wired together or the wires are touching each other or the connection at the controller. I even disconnected one of the wires from one zone but still opens both solenoids/diaphragm n...

Re: Over My Head Reno, But Whatever.

If you till and then tenacity then why would weed pressure be an issue? How deep are people tilling?

I have Bermuda roots i need out so i at least have something to combat weed seeds instead of waiting for bermuda stolons to interfere with new grass.

I’m in Midwest 6b and its too freaking hot and we are doing 90 daily temps; hell no I’m not seeding now; cool season is cool season, ideal germination is 65- 80f with how these seed vendors are listing their seed. I think for NJ you are subject towards other pressures such as early winters and rough ...

Re: Fescue invasion

It’s not tall fescue but grassy types are similar cause it does crowd in existing turf; its not coming from one single point so not fescue

Get more pics into the root system and the leaf blades to have a better idea

people who have like plots of land that can grow without mowing and not affect the appearance of the rest of the yard would seem to be a small demographic but a demographic nonetheless; i dont think i would be the only one to think of this; of course it takes months but we all have house plants and ...

small yield grass seed cultivation

Has anyone ever had success with getting growable grass seed from the top tier grass seeds to bear seeds to sustain more areas to seed more plots of land? Why is it that farmers are able to grow seed in the first place and pollinate then when we get millions and even billions of it shouldn't it just...
