Re: 2020 Bermuda to PRG overseed thread

I'm getting a little bit nervous. Its been 6 days since I blew my seed, I mean laid out my seed....No signs of germination yet. We got a crazy cold front in and its now in the 40's It went from high 80's last week to 50's and 40's. I cut my watering a tad bit being we have some rain too. Really hop...

Re: When is to late for HOC reset?

Its not spreading because its going balls out on root growth. Come next spring its going to go ape with new stolon and rizome growth. Honestly, just keep it at your desired HOC right now and sit tight until spring. You've got almost nothing to gain and everything to lose if you reset new sod this la...

Re: When is to late for HOC reset?

Yeah I'm not really sure why everyone is commenting that it is too late in the season. If you're in the southeast then you def have plenty of time, unless you're in the mountains or something. Well, he did say this was new sod so I can understand him being hesitant. My Bermuda is 8+ years old and h...

Re: When is to late for HOC reset?

I'm in central Virginia and I'm doing a hard scalp this weekend before Laura hits. Recovery time on my Patriot Bermuda will be about 14 days. Thats one of the perks of having such an aggressive hybrid and 80 degrees days.

Re: late summer bermuda seeding - should I?

I'd wait. Youre also fighting a diminishing sun angle even though the soil temps are ok. Warm earth won't matter if the grass cant make energy via photosynthesis.

Sedgehammer will absolutely yellow Bermuda in 85+. And it will stay yellow for quite a while.

Been there many times.

Re: Life to an old AC unit?

Is it a split system with an interior air handler? If so, clean the coils in the handler also. Even with religious filter replacement, stuff cakes on the AH coils. Just use a shop vac, soft metal wire brush and warm soapy water and gently remove the deposits.

Re: RDZed's Journal

House to the left is a Dallisgrass and Nutsedge machine. It's the bane of my existence. They have a TTTF "lawn" that is "maintained" by True Green. Luckily theres a driveway between us but once that Dallis goes to seed, it's a battle. I've even offered to Pre-em their lawn for free. No joy. Grrrr!

Re: RDZed's Journal

I'll try to get more angles of the yard and house soon. I've got a constant stream of teenagers parking in front of the house and it's almost never clear of cars...it sucks.

Dont park in front of the house and dont walk on the fook'n lawn!

Re: RDZed's Journal

As mentioned on the main board, I was down in OBX for 10 days so i hadn't mowed the Bermuda in a total of 22 days total after putting PGR down at the end of May. It worked out well. PGR, lots of rain and cooler temps kept the upward growth below 2". I'm really happy with that. Got home this past Tue...

Definitely not chickweed. Looks like really young longleaf plantain. Could be anything at this point though.

High lift blades.
I had a commercial Hi-Vac Snapper with the high lift kit installed. That mower would suck sand out of concrete.
Seriously.

An old dull set of High Lift Blades and set your mower one notch higher than the finished cut height and those cores will be gone in one pass.
