Re: Dogwood is drowning

The landscaper came out today to look at the tree and they wound up digging the tree up by the root ball. It came up very easily and we found that the roots had not worked through the burlap at all. There was a greyish tan clay covering the ball too. He guessed the dogwood was not grown in a Georgia...

Dogwood is drowning

I had two dogwoods installed in May. One has done very well while the other has struggled. I thought it was stress at first. Then I thought it could be watering but know that is not the issue. I've sent the pictures to the landscaper and he thinks the tree is drowning due to the wilting, browning le...

Re: Yard Treatment Plan

Depends on what you’re using Propiconazole to treat. Spring dead spot is a soil application since it is preventative and targeting ground spores and not foliar disease.

@Tbspivey
I would not discount the early signs of TARR. The sheath in the bottom of the clump of grass looks very dark and the roots in the middle look very dark. Was that clump easy to pull out?
What is Tarr?
TARR is take all root rot. Fungal disease also called bermudagrass decline.

Re: Southern AG Chelated Iron App

Thanks for the replies everyone. So I applied at 4oz/M using a backpack sprayer. I will be interested if I see some deeper green in the next 72 hours or so. I am hopeful since I am thinking about moving to an all liquid fertilization plan next Spring and iron would be a part of the apps. I'll likely...

Southern AG Chelated Iron App

For those of you that have used Southern AG chelated iron, what rate did you put down? I read a few posts from years back saying 4oz/M. Is that accurate? Bottle suggested 1 pint/M which seems heavy.

Re: Fertilizing question -Using Scotts Turf Builder UltraFeed twice during the summer safe?

When you put out your last feeding with a more balanced fertilizer like 10-10-10 do you still calculate the amount at 1lb/m of nitrogen?

Re: Mowing and over abundance of rain

I would take it down in advance. I just did this last week expecting a ton of rain. Forecast was wrong so it just became a mid-season HOC reset for me but the green-up has been nice.

What’s happening to my dogwood?

I had two dogwoods planted in early May. Both have been watered and we’ve had consistent rain. I’m in Georgia so heavy red clay soil. One of them has red and yellow leaves dropping on lower branches. Some signs of something munching on leaves. I sprayed a peppermint oil mix on it a couple days ago. ...

HOC Reset with McLane

I have been maintaining at 5/8” using a McLane reel. Color was starting to fade because of stem growth so I decided to reset the HOC. I dropped one notch to 7/16”. Do you all think that will be enough of a difference when I return to 5/8” or should I go up to 7/8”? I would have taken it down to 1/4”...

Re: All purpose Fert. for Bermuda/Zoysia (13-13-13 ? )

I think most aim for 1lb nitrogen per month with bermuda. If you have 7k yard, that 40lb bag of 13-13-13 will get you around .75 lbs in one application. Not sure if zoysia needs a little less, so .75 might be right.

Fill dirt or sand after burying gutters?

This weekend I had landscaping added to my home, including having the gutters buried under the turf. The line was hand trenched and they were able to save most of the tiftuf bermuda and relaid it after burying the pipe. Most of the edges line up pretty well but there are a few low spots and also som...

Re: Construction Debris Brown Spots?

I would say it depends on the depth of the debris. I bought new in the summer of 2018. The erosion over the last almost two years is starting to show where the problems really exist. I have found hammers, concrete, framing nails, rebar, and gigantic rocks that the landscaper decided would be easier ...
