Re: The Heat is ON! Should I hold off on the fert & squirt during drought stress?

@FlowRider if you have irrigation I wouldn’t see why you would need to hold off. For someone that has to rely on Mother Nature I could understand not wanting to fertilize right now. But I don’t have irrigation so I imagine everyone with it is like “What heat wave?” I do have full irrigation, but th...

Re: Possible fungus

Yes the area was drying out but I fixed my sprinkler pattern. I water twice a week and the area has gotten the required 1 in per week.

Re: The seed heads are coming...

Come to West Texas and see the seed heads I've had (have) in my backyard. My reel mower is getting fixed so I've gone as low as I can go with a rotary and these suckers I swear pop up from hiding 6-8 hours after I've mowed like they have risen from the dead! Now if heat causes quick growth, I guess ...

Re: Bermuda?

First off, where are you in East Tn? That will play a role in this part. If you want to get the weeds under control you will want to do it before you scalp way down. The more leaf tissue to absorb the herbicide the better. The weeds look happy and healthy now which is when you want to hit them. If ...

This right here is an amazing journal. I'm just going to live vicariously through you and your lawn ;) Then I'm going to have to come pay this place a visit when I visit my sister in Flower Mound. Once you have everything cooking, going to have to charge admission!

Re: So what is the deal here???

Not trying to hijack this thread but I have a similar problem, spots of lighter color turf throughout my yard. This problem has been confusing and frustrating me for the past year!!! It was sodded by builders in 2014 so I assume it's a hybrid Bermuda but I'm the second owner of the home and I wonde...

They both look like bermuda in those pics. My vote is you've just got a mix of 2 different types going on.
Yep that's what it looked like to me when I pulled them up. Can I read anything into one seed head having 4 different seed heads and the other only having 2?

Re: Friend's St. Augustine woes

That looks like Bermuda to me and the shade those trees give is no good for the Bermuda IMO.

My vote is the highlighted area looks like zoysia and the rest is Bermuda.

In the morning when there is dew on the grass, does the area you marked, lack dew while the other areas have dew?
We don’t really get dew in El Paso lol. Is there another way to tell?
