Re: California Trimmer

@bassmanaustin, correction about some of the info I provided above. The new dealer in Round Rock is a McLane dealer, NOT a Tru-Cut dealer.

By the way, is it bass as in 🎸 or is it bass as in 🎣?

Re: California Trimmer

Thinking about buying a California Trimmer for my Bermuda which is fairly uneven. Will this be able to handle it or do I need to go with something like a Toro Flex? Anyone have experience with a California Trimmer that can relate? Just an FYI, there's a guy in Round Rock that is a Tru-Cut dealer th...

Paver "how to" resources?

So I've decided to put in a seating area under a tree in the backyard....approx 10x12 oval-ish/rounded type of shape. Considering going with pavers. I've never done a paver project before, and I've seen a ton of how to videos on YT. Like most things, there are quite a number of ways to do this. I ju...

Re: POA/winter weed help

Poa pulls pretty easily... just saying. It may seem like a daunting task for 3000sf but if you break it up into sections and just do a little at a time, you would completely remove them instead of waiting several weeks for a herbicide to work. This is the very first thing I always suggest to anyone...

Re: Best spreader under $200 ($400)

50 lb model absolutely has 3rd hole shut off. Mine does. Site One in Texas has the deflector at $57. The spreader itself is $256. At $340 all in with tax (I got a discount when I bought mine), that’s still $230 less than the 80 lb. They’re both well worth their respective prices. Which Lesco is the ...

Re: Best spreader under $200

I'll second what MasterMech said above. Most folks on here end up with either the Lesco or the Spyker. However I went with 50 lb Lesco with the deflector at the $310 price point. I showed up intending to buy the 80 lb spreader, but I saw the 50 lb model was built pretty darn well. It's good for my 5...

Re: JayGo's Journal (Texas Tifway)

December and still maintaining a little color even though we've had cooler weather and chilly nights. Today was the first mow in about 2 or 3 weeks. I was surprised by the amount of clippings. https://i.postimg.cc/hjjCV598/20211208-094456.jpg Backyard is doing surprisingly well despite lots of shade...

Re: Coffee Machines

I wound getting the KBGV Select. I did their "which machine is right for you" little quiz thing and of course that's the one they recommended. The expensive one. 🤣

And yep, I'm considering digging in deeper and looking at grinders and the never ending process of tasting different beans, etc...

Re: Coffee Machines

For anyone curious or interested, I bought a Moccamaster.
I've never had hotter homemade coffee. 🔥
I don't claim to be a coffee connoisseur, but I immediately noticed it was super smooth coffee.
I didn't like the $350 price tag, but my wife pushed me over the edge. Very happy with it.

Re: Coffee Machines

cldrunner , no shame at all in the $30 maker if it suffices, right? Besides, we've all had one of those. On another note, in chatting about coffee makers at work, my wife learned that her assistant owns one of these Moccamasters. She loves the thing, so the wife is all about it now. I'm really hopi...

Re: Coffee Machines

Sure looks like a lot of the reviews are overwhelmingly positive for the Technivorm KBGV Select. Question for those of you that are into coffee more than the casual java drinker: Is the taste difference really noticeable when you go with a coffee maker that has the "better" brewing/heating element a...

Re: Best Time for Soil Test?

I usually wait until late Winter/early Spring to pull cores. I like the idea of getting a snapshot of my soil well after the last feeding I give it in the Fall.

Hanging In (11/19/21)

It had been 11 days since the previous mow, but I got one in yesterday afternoon. Noticing a little dormancy starting to creep in. Hoping to knock out the backyard today.

@Herring, that looks like a serious stand. I saw one on a website for a hammock seller that was priced at $3K. THREE THOUSAND!!!

Thanks for all the info.

@H12Mike, now that's a name for a coffee maker. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll read up on it.
