Any particular variety? Johnston Seed Co. is a regional favorite.
I take it the plugs are off the table?

I'm thinking the Arden-15 looks pretty good from the photos I've seen on here.

Bermuda Seed

Not sure if this is the right board to post on but where does everyone get their seed from?

Wal-mart, seed barn, home depot, amazon, lowes, sneak over to Ware's lawn and take plugs?

Re: Dethatcher / Verticutter

This winter I'm looking to add a dethatcher and / or verticutter. Which machines do you guys like? And can one machine do both dethatching and verticutting? I bought the sun joe last year, had 3" of thatch and it went through it with ease. Neighbor like how well my yard looked that he's using it th...

Cut, spoon fed a little 15-15-15, threw down some micros, and overseeded a bare spot made by the kids playing in the sprinklers this week. https://i.postimg.cc/MTkPP1St/20191026-174329.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/yN3pyvwk/20191026-174456.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/m2VnLcY2/IMG-20191026-175037-217.jpg

Re: No Freeze Bermuda/Kikuyu Care

As temps and hours of sunlight decline, your lawn will slow down too. Dial back the watering, fert, and mowing. I switch to a predominantly foliar program in the "winter", and mow once a week. You should have a lot more time to monitor the progress of the yard since you won't be doing as much work ...

Re: Dead grass along edge

Looks like that is mostly a thatch/crown layer. I had the same issue with my lawn, pulling it all out now. Also could be the heat from the sidewalk radiating to that part of the lawn.

Re: Sun Joe dethatch/scarifier review

I used the scarifier to cut the stolons and the dethatcher to 'comb' the grass. But because my thatch was so thick I needed to cut it first.

Re: Obi-lawn_Kenobi Journal

Spoon fed the front yard with a little 15-15-15 mix yesterday. Scarification Friday really tore up sone spots and showed how bad lawn really was. Going to let it recover a little bit before changing HOC. Hit the smaller part of front yard with the dethatcher and got some more dead stuff out. Oversee...

Re: Sun Joe dethatch/scarifier review

Just wanted to second the motion that this thing is a beast. I have/had a severe thatch problem, 2 to 3" in areas. Finally talked my wife into letting me get this and it tore through my thatch with no problems. I did run it at the highest recommend scarifiy setting but looking at my lawn before I st...

Inside needed a lot of work getting brought out the early 90s. Tore out walls, expanded master bath, took down wallpaper etc. In the meantime the lawn was put o...

Re: Bermuda Crowns and Thatch

@Obi-Lawn_Kenobi yeah, the grass looks like kikuyu to me. That close-up pic is definitely not zoysia. Kikuyu is popular in Socal, so I would research that to see if you can confirm. Thanks! I checked out kikuyu when @tn hawkeye mentioned it earlier and didn't think that was correct. Checked out the...

Did some more research on my grass type, its looking more like Zoysia to me now too. Vernation looks rolled to me. Pulled this guy trying to make a run for it across my sidewalk.

Re: Bermuda Crowns and Thatch

That is a lot of thatch. No idea what you should do, but impressive. Also, have you fertilized it since April? Bermuda likes heat, but also is hungry and wants to be fed. The difference in mine when it gets the Nitrogen and Potassium it needs is night and day. And the more rain the more the nutrien...
