Thanks for the idea @wiread.... I built one of these today and it works really well
I can't claim credit, like most of my good ideas, I saw it somewhere else and used it too :)

I'm glad it's working for you too. I think it's a great option vs the nail or those balancers

Re: Blade Balancer

I bought some router bearings, stuck the post in a block of wood and screwed it to the wall. Works great. One the bearings allows my gator blades to fit right over. I think it was 10-20 bucks

I also have the American sharpener, you won’t be disappointed. I love mine.

I've photographed owls close enough I could reach up and touch them in a tree if my arms were 3 feet longer LOL, on our property. I refuse to use poison on rodents of any type. We had a problem with them getting in. I bought a mirror on a handle and went around and checked the entire perimeter of th...

Re: Pellet Grills

I ended up getting a Green Mountain. Since they changed name of the grills they had their old models discounted so picked one up for $699. I just looked again and the same exact grill just with a different name is now $850. So was hard to pass up. I will admit I've kind of got hooked on smoking so ...

Might have 1 more,i'm at 3.25 and want to get down to 3" and I'll have leaves for another 3 weeks probably. Last year they didn't fall until January, which was really late, and needless to say they didn't get mulched LOL

I have my yard broken up in to sections that range from 20-29K. The 31 gal sprayer is probably about perfect for one of those sizes.

Re: Wanting to aerate lawn but leaves are dropping

+1 on the weeds. I went into this a few years ago just trying stuff, slice seeded one year with terrible success. Pretty much rows of weeds came up instead. Aerated and seeded the next year instead, just spread more weeds around LOL. 3rd time was a charm. Took care of the weeds for a spring, a fall,...

Re: Anybody going to GIE this year? (2021)

Was not at the expo, but a friend of mine is carrying GreenWorks mowers in our area. Doesn't get his stock until early November, so soon and as long as weather holds out i'm heading over to test one of them. I'm not buying, yet anyway. Our area is not one I'd expect battery stuff to take off early, ...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Blitz (cool season grasses only)

If I had a smaller yard and could walk and spray with backpack and then put water to it after easy enough, I'd likely spray. I enjoy the walk. But as it stands, I have to fill up my 31 gallon at least twice and fire up the mower and pull it around and to do that every week in addition to everything ...

Re: Fertilizer Spreader

I've found spreading fert is easier than spraying. I don't have irrigation and spoon feeding gets to be a PITA if you ask me when spraying and only doing .25lbs at a time and waiting on rain etc. I bit the bullet and got an 80lb lesco for urea pellets instead of using them to spray and put .5lbs dow...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Blitz (cool season grasses only)

Thanks guys, i'm right in that average first frost date for here now. Doesn't look like it's happening in the next week anyway. Soil temps are in the low 60's. I'm going to plan on one more in about a week and will stretch it to 2 if the weather looks favorable.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Blitz (cool season grasses only)

Is there an average temp you guys stop putting N down? I got a late start because of some overseeding I did and am going to put one more .5lb per app in about 7-10 days depending on rain forecasts. Just wondering if I can maybe fit one more in early November if the temps stay up or just call it quit...

Toddlers don’t care about flat lawns and when they’re 2,3,4,5,6,7…

They’ll want to dig it up, plant sticks, look for worms, ants, and wish you had more dandelions and violets for mom.

I'll just fill er up again LOL I went to Site One and picked up the Lesco 80lb 'er this afternoon. Anybody know the setting for that and spreading urea pellets for a .5 per 1K rate LOL. I guess i have to calibrate this thing sometime. But tonight I'll probably just put in 25lbs and set it low and go...

Re: Spread or Spray?

I spray everything that is not fertilizer. I dunno why, I just prefer to walk and spread it. I've tried a tractor PTO spreader and a tow behind, and I'm just a fan of their accuracy. Lesco 80lbs walk behind for fert and EVERYTHING else is liquid at my home. That's kind of what I'll be looking at do...

Re: Spread or Spray?

i was considering that one too. Lesco was my first consideration because it's what I see all the time and can pick up locally. If i'm going to get one, I can quit spraying today and spread the rest for the last 2-3 apps this year.

Re: Spread or Spray?

Yes, that's what I want to do is .5 every 2. With granular I figure I'll have more windows to drop it since it's not sitting on the leaves. So if it sits there for 2-3 days before rain I'll be fine. Whereas with spraying, I'm relying on some rain every week that we don't always get and I have to spr...
