Re: My celebration looks terrible

Local to Lubbock - we use a 16-4-8 blended fertilizer with added iron and sulfur for our soils. The local distributor for golf courses, landscapers and pest control services all use them. I would get a soil test done and go from there.

Re: My celebration looks terrible

I have Celebration Bermuda, it grows very fast when conditions are right...meaning its getting irrigation water/Rain, sun and fertilizer. It forms a rather thick mat and really needs to be verticut once a year. You really need to scalp it low early in the year when its just waking up from the winter...

Re: Which users have large lawns??

I live on 1.1 acres and have approx 33ksq ft of turf...I now use a Toro 3100d triplex to mow... its a lot of work, not just the mowing its all the edging and weed eating, around the fence line, pool, shop, sand play area and driveways etc... Personally would love to have a smaller house and yard......

Re: Leveling a Bermuda Lawn

I built a big shop/pool house in my back yard. I literally buried maybe 50sq ft of Celebration Bermuda as deep as 6" in to grade water away from the shop foundation, yes 6 inches!! The contractor was suppose to get new sod once the grade was correct but he never showed back up, Several months and by...

Re: Triplex on a hill

I will measure as soon as I get back to the property. Do they make grass catchers for the 3100d Its an optional kit, the used 3100d I just bought came with grass catchers. I However have yet to use grass catchers on any reel mower I've ever used. The Toro 3100D mowers are something like $30k-$40k n...

Re: Triplex on a hill

Thanks for the input, 3100d was on my radar but was not sure if the low CG of the 3250d would be better for bermuda at .500 The Toro 3250D Greensmater is a Golf Course Greens mower with slick/bald tires. I would not recommend from the experience I had with the 3150Q I currently own. The John Deere ...

Re: Triplex on a hill

Are there any triplex that are better on hills than the other? My yard is basically totally flat other than the smallest of grade change for water drainage ditch in front. So don't have any experience on anything with hills. I currently have a Toro 2000d Triples(it not working) and I think is has t...

Re: Triplex on a hill

I think my 3100d manual says a 15% slope is max...another precaution is if you have the sidewinder version move the reels to the uphill side to help with weight distribution/center of gravity. Obviously you would want to mow in a north south pattern as much as possible. East and West mowing could do...

Re: Does your reel mower fully cut Bermuda seedheads?

Reel mowers tend to do poor job on Bermuda seed heads. It seems they bend over and get stripped cause a whitish haze to the lawn. I had seed heads pretty bad last couple years the I would go over with a rotary then come back with the reel. PGR didn't really suppress them in my case for whatever reas...

Re: Scalping with push reel

Problem is the push reels don't weigh much...might be able to add some weight to it somehow. A powered reel mower weighs at least 100lbs+ Probably the best you can do with out investing in any more equipment is scalp as low a possible, then raise the height of cut, to the next level up and maintain ...

Re: Stupid Question - Remove reel for grind?

All the reel grinding machines I've seen sharpen the reel while on the machine. They usually use some kind of lift to set the entire mower on the grinder.
