Re: Powhatan's 2021 Lawn Journal

Looks pretty good for no irrigation. Having the shade of the trees helps I guess? The KY-31 is not the prettiest grass but it's one tough survivor. At times the shade helps and other times it's a nuisance. Through mid-morning the lawn receives dappled sunlight, once the sun crests over the trees th...

Re: Powhatan's 2021 Lawn Journal

First day of Summer pics. Non-irrigated, come mid-July about half of the grass will be dormant then a few weeks later in August it will green back up with rains. https://i.postimg.cc/NGRS48XD/IMG-8867.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/qvWxSSV3/IMG-8895.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/W1d79jKV/IMG-8902.jpg

Re: Brown spots

I don't see fungal disease lesions in your pics so it's possible a disease has already killed the grass. To me the areas look like advanced heat/drought stress. The grass looks like it's being cut too short and almost scalped, but maybe it looks like that due to stress.

Re: I messed up - Can I fix my K-31 lawn?

My only hesitation for using it as a primary turf variety is it is virtually impossible to find a weed free / noxious weed free bag of the stuff. If you look at what tractor supply / DFL / etc sell, it's loaded to the gills with weed seed. If I could find a blue tag equivalent with 0% weed / 0% nox...

Re: I messed up - Can I fix my K-31 lawn?

You remove KY-31 by either mechanical process or spray glyphosate multiple times for total kill.

KY-31 "can" be a nice lawn in certain situations with work but you'll probably want turf (TTTF or KBG) grass instead of the forage coarse blade KY-31.

Re: Powhatan's 2021 Lawn Journal

No new darken grass areas or mycelium seen past couple of days. All the diseased areas have dead straw grass blades in the middle surrounded by healthy green ones. For the next granular fungicide treatment with a different MOA I was planning on using the higher curative rate, but now thinking to use...

Re: Captquin’s Journal - Coastal Virginia

Any thoughts on if I should also apply a foliar as well like the bioadvance propiconazole after cutting?? No experience with foliar fungicides other than using neem oil. I understand the liquid fungicide is usually better budget friendly than the granular. I use neem oil to smother the pathongens, ...

Re: Captquin’s Journal - Coastal Virginia

@Captquin you have brown patch. Along with your fungicide treatment(s) ... while disease is present - sharpen mower blade every time you mow to get a clean cut, bag mow highly recommended, and lower HOC a little to get more airflow on the grass canopy to dry quicker.
