Re: Green's Lawn Journal

Mowed the lower side overseed with the reel mower. Really need to fertilize it and do a Tenacity spray due to the Poa annua. Still watering the front overseed every couple of days lightly. Raked out the back walkway grass to get the dead stuff from Winter out. The daffodils back there are starting t...

Re: Chris LI's Lawn Journal

I get the need for fertilizer. I need to fertilize one of these days as well. All I've done so far is one full app of Potassium this Spring. The high-activity methylene urea and organics and leftover N/carbohydrates from the blitz from last Fall and the Spring N-liberation have all started dwindling...

Re: Green's Lawn Journal

Mowed today. Since the grass was a bit long, I temporarily upped the HOC in some areas. Main front (except areas sprayed yestersay): 3.2 in. Side front: same. Garage side and upper back: 2.6 in. Lower back: 2.25 inch setting (but grass is longer than that after being cut). Side: 3.2. Low input near ...

Re: Green's Lawn Journal

Yesterday, 5/10/21: Last night, got 0.7 inch of rain. Sprayed 2nd app of glyphosate on Triv spots. But there is a lot more outside the spots, so... I did it. I sprayed Certainty (Sulfosulfuron) on about 0.7M of the main front in a double anti parallel set of roughly L-shaped areas: ....................

Re: JDgreen18 lawn journal 2021

It's good that all the big repairs are done. That's the important stuff. Now you get to keep working on the yard stuff to get back to where it was in 2019 eventually. I hate redoing destroyed yards, too, but it happens sometimes. Hopefully you never have a run-in with the weather again. You get to u...

Re: Green's Lawn Journal

Mowed family member lawn (~2hrs of work total). Had to fix the battery leads/terminals first...disconnect, clean, reconnect. Started right up after, but did backfire. Thankfully someone else had mowed it recently at least once over the last week or two, otherwise it would have been way overgrown. Th...

Re: Green's Lawn Journal

Opened up the irrigation for the year after it stared to rain lightly. There are a few issues that need to be taken care of to get everything working right.

Re: Velocity and triv

Never heard about Brown Patch. What I did hear is that Velocity acts as a fungicide that prevents Dollar Spot. And it's also a PGR as well (albeit a poor one as far as turf quality ). So, I wouldn't combine it with another PGR like Trinexapac-ethyl. (I generally used T-Pac first, then used Velocity ...

Re: Green's Lawn Journal

Got another 0.10 inch or so of rain yesterday. Today, I moved some plugs using the Proplugger, in the back (where Triv was killed last year) and adjacent area behind the shed (where I'm trying to propagate fine fescue because that's all that will grow in the shade). Moved about 15 or so plugs. Only ...

Re: Green's Lawn Journal

I have a red maple that looks fairly young in the middle of my reno which I did last year. I sprayed its base and everywhere around it. Might have even gotten some on the trunk as well with volitalization because it was in the summer. It looks great this year and didnt drip any leaves last year eit...

Re: Question on Scott's Green Max

This wasn't your question, but you're going to need another app of crabgrass preventer sooner rather than later (before June). It doesn't matter what type you use for the second app, but if you want to stick with Scotts, you can use the same one again if you don't fertilize now. If you do fertilize ...

Re: Green's Lawn Journal

Got 1.09 inch of rain yesterday/last night. Drew a circle around the young Hickory (I think it's 9 years old now) and then sprayed glyphosate to kill the grass in order to make a mulch circle. Accidentally got a small amount of spray (gly + AMS + NIS) on the base of the tree (on the bark about 3-4 i...

Re: Green's Lawn Journal

Yikes... Attempted to prune the roots on some small trees (unfortunately, buds just broke open the other day, so technically late). I thought I could transplant this April, but now I'm reading that you have to prune 6 months ahead of time and then wait. First (reel) mow on the main front overseed. D...

Trinexapac-ethyl available in small bottles

This has been posted in the past, but I never saw it. I recently bought a bottle of Trinexapac-ethyl from domyown. It's 8oz. I don't need a lot, so that was perfect. Some might consider the price steep at ~35, but if you don't need anywhere near a gallon, it might the way to go, since this stuff can...

Re: Velocity and triv

I've wanted to try this and have the same understanding as you that Certainty was once labeled for cool season but label was pulled. There was a guy on here called masshole that I think tried Certainty and nuked his lawn, if I remember correctly. Gman would remember. That is correct. He wanted to g...
