Re: Iowa Jim's reno 2018

I have been using carbon x, milorganite and feature apps and have been very happy with the results. After really positive experiences with carbon x this year, I am currently thinking that the combo you mention above is the way I will be taking things next year. Carbon x plus a milo alternative plus...

No pictures before the snow?
There are some pics on the Iowa forum that are in October, they didn't come out very good for some reason. If i took a pic today it would be all white.

Re: Is it worth buying a core aerator?

Ya but those things are only doing about 3 holes per sq foot. To reach 20% of the surface area per year you would have to aerate 22 times per year (assuming diameter 3/4” cores). Seems to work well for me 👍🏾 I will second that. The only thing is you have to do it after a rain and use some weight an...

Re: Anyone else ready for fall?

Usually i am by this time of year but still remembering last winter with -35 and snowblowing a strip in the lawn for the dog to do his business. Maybe i will go to Minnesota this January for a vacation, where it was warmer than Iowa last year. I hate to bust your balls, but.... https://www.accuweat...

Re: Medium sized lawn......mower dilemma??’s

You had it right at the first mower that you looked at. The x370 is a very nice mower and you can turn using one finger and gives a quality cut. I have 12000 sf of lawn and don't feel it is overkill as it takes about 30 minutes to mow the lawn. Disclaimer: I bought mine with a employe discount and i...

Who is ready for fall whitetail in the NE.
I am ready but my hips are not, will be getting cortisone shots in each hip and hope that will help. I usually bow hunt Iowa and Missouri and then muzzy hunt Iowa and rifle hunt Missouri.

Re: Going beyond the fundamentals

This is what works for me and i have very dark green grass. I put down milo at bag rate that i bought at Fleet Farm for $7.99 a bag. Then one week later i put down carbon x at 4 lbs. per k, the bag rate is 3 lbs. per k but if you feel more comfortable with that go ahead and do that. We did a group b...

@SpiveyJr I usually see results in 2 days without a surfactant.
Thats what i am seeing also and by the way does everybody water in there feature? I let mine sit on the blades for at least 12 hours and then give it a 1/4" of water if no rain.

Re: Budstl lawn

Lowering your HOC will expose more of the crown so it will take a couple of weeks for the lawn to get use to it. You may want to give it a iron app of fas or feature. I think it still looks good.

Re: 2 year old bewitched clippings vs 1 month old

I grew bewitched, mazama and midnight in some pots and bewitched was significantly lighter. I planted all three and when they germinated in the lawn i still could tell that bewitched was slightly lighter and that was a fall reno . Come by the next June i could not see any color difference at all and...
