Re: JDgreen18 2019 spring & fall renos

Nice bed and nice cultivars that you have chosen. Blueback is suppose to be even better than midnight, i wish it had been available last fall when i did mine. good luck

Re: g-man 2019 Lawn Journey

Here is to gentle rains and don't forget to do the flash light test at day 4 or 5. I woke up on day 6 and looked out on my lawn and could see a little green fuzz, so i got cheated out of doing the flash light test that i was so looking forward to.

Re: Kove's lawn (Saint Louis, MO)

@FuzzeWuzze I noticed and created a post last year the same question. Somehow I forgot to include my rate in both my TLF and personal journals. Found it in old photos (below). 4lbs/M. However a bunch was killed off by fungus ~20 days in and I eyeballed the over seed. I finally got my hands on come ...

Re: mrotatori 2019 Fall KBG Reno

If i was doing a reno this fall i would put seed down today with the weather were having. I also put seed down on August 12 last fall and it turned out well. But the older it is the better it will handle the winter and a little less fighting the falling leaves. Just something to think about because ...

Re: Can applying gypsum prevent salt damage to newly seeded area over the winter?

I don't know about the gypsum before the damage is done but what would help is watering super heavy right after the frost goes out in the spring.

Did a reno last fall and got rust from watering to heavy and just let it go. This spring it was nowhere to be found.

Re: shade to partial shade - mono / no mono?

I have bewitched, mazama and midnight blend and it does well in 3 hours of shade. For shade i have 2 100' cottonwoods and a 80' maple. You can see pics of my lawn in the reno threads.

Re: New guy, large neglected lawn. Where to start

I put the mulch kit on my x370 and i am not impressed as it leaves a line of grass behind the mower. Don't even think about breaking the 1/3 rule and the grass had better be bone dry. I am using the mulch blades that came with the kit. I am thinking of using the gator blades this fall for leaves.

Re: Budstl lawn

Maybe put down a app of hyrbrix now to help push out that dollar spot. I would be to chicken to do it but I'm sure your a better applicator than i am. Looks good for it being the hottest time of the year. I don't follow your weather but did notice you guys got a lot of rain in June, maybe thats wher...

Re: Pennstater’s 2019 Lawn Journal (Starts Page 32)

@iowa jim Did you need to level again after dragging? Or did you just seed and roll after? I had some bumps and humps and everything i did helped smooth out the lawn. the old fence gate i used for my final passes really helped smooth it out. I also used a roller to go over the seed for better seed ...

Re: Pennstater’s 2019 Lawn Journal (Starts Page 32)

I went the other way when i did my reno last fall, i triple areated, put my dethatcher on with 200 lbs. of weight, took a old gate to use as a drag with 100lbs, of weight. Seed to soil contact is very important but i will admit that i had trouble holding the peat in place when we got rain. So your t...

Looks great, esp for July! The last pic I don't see any Mazama, the blades aren't as fine as Bewitched. Perhaps the Midnight and/or Bewitched out competed the Mazama?
Thanks Koven: I don't know if thats what happened but i have the same amount of bewitched and mazama seed planted.

Re: Iowa Jim's reno 2018

Looks great @iowa jim. Some nice density. I think you are ok to put milo down now at .25 or .5lbs since you are watering. I've done 2 apps of milo this month. Of course i waited to apply the 2nd app after that extreme heat. I was thinking of doing that and i know you are right, I'm being a little o...
