Zoysia matrella Sir Grange / Zoysia Zeon / BRF Zoysia

Post by Fiona D »

Morning all. I was just wondering if anyone has experience/thoughts on Sir Grange Zoysia I believe it is also called Zoysia Zeon or BRF Zoysia in US. We are keen to give it a go because we have a very shady spot in our garden and a big mango tree and by what we have read this variety seems to be the best suited to shade. We live in Brisbane, Australia. But by what we have read they suggest laying it on 100-200mm of sand 😳 (which would be a bit of an issue from a digging levelling point of view and would rather not have to put so much sand down). If anybody has used it and had a full year of it would be very keen to get your thoughts on it and if you would recommend it, if you later it on sand and if it’s as amazing as the say. Frequent mowing doesn’t bother us it’s more in regards to its performance and how you installed it that I’m interested. Many thanks
