N-ext Fertility and T-Nex

Post by acmccart8 »

I am trying to plan my program for next year with the recent switch to Bluemuda from Bermuda. I am purchasing a Yard Mastery sprayer so I can start spoon feeding with foliage uptake spray ferts instead of root uptakes like granular types used in the past.

With that said, my question is, does 18-0-1 green punch or other similar spray fertilizers, need to be watered in if you follow the correct minimum dilution rate (I believe it is 7:1 water to fertilizer, but I would have to check). Also, do the non-nitrogen fertilizers (0-0-2 micros, RGS, Air 8, D-Thatch, etc.) that go down at a much lower rate need to be watered in?

I was hoping to spray T-Nex and fertilizer out of the same tank mix and just go over the yard one time each month. The worry is if fertilizers need to be watered in, but I don't see anything on the N-ext labels, and the T-Nex cannot be watered in. I am wondering if I mix 4,000 sq ft worth of mix being 64 ounces of 18-0-1, 12 ounces of one of the supplements (RGS, Air 8, etc.), 2 ounces of T-nex, and 434 (roughly ratio of 6.8:1, so not quite 7:1 of water to 18-0-1 green punch) ounces of water and not water it in, will everything play nicely together and work effectively? My yard is right under 8,000 sq ft, so it would be perfect to just set this up like this monthly and just spray the yard once and fill the backpack twice each time.

It’s your money so I won’t tell you how to spend it but I would read the liquid fert thread before buying anything. For 8k sq ft you might want to build the Chapin push boom sprayer as you could spray without refilling.

Go with the labels recommendations on carrier volume and irrigation. Foliar apps need time on the leaf for uptake, 4 hours is sufficient and then you can water in.

I spray tnex, a soluble 1-1-1, and feature without any issues. I have mixed in other products before and as long as you jar test it in the same mixing order you shouldn’t gum up your sprayer.
