Help with Bird of Paradise Trees...

Post by toicy4ya » Wed Aug 07, 2019 7:28 pm

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post. I recently purchased a home in Florida and have several tall white birds of paradise trees in my backyard. However, several of the tepals (i think that is what they are called) or white flowers that grows out of the tree are dried up and brown. Do you know what may have caused this? Do I simply prune the tree to remove the dried up brown tepals?

Thanks in advance!

Giant White Bird of Paradise.

They're just spent blooms. Cut them off with a clean, sharp knife. Also cut away the husking (brown fibers at the base) and any old leaves. She needs a good grooming and some fert and it will bounce right back.
