Another POa Annua Question. Post Emergence after seedhead?

Post by Belgianbillie »

I talked to the guys at site-one and they told me that prograss and poa constrictor are basically growth regulators and actually dont impact post emergence poa annua if it already has seeds.

What do you guys suggest?

I would suggest not listening to the site one guys or us. Read the label for ethofumesate and it will tell you if it treats POA a or not. If your post has seed, they are likely viable. So you need a 2 step approach, 1) ensure your POA a dies and 2) ensure those seeds don't become new POA a.

For step one there are multiple methods. For step two, you need a prem at the end of summer.

i just purchased some ethofumesate and treated two 2'x2' sections in my yard. both spots had seed heads present and i went with label rate (.5oz/k) of the product. hopefully in a few days (???) ill be able to let you know how effective the product is vs poa A that has went to seed.

T Nex will suppress Poa seed heads.

Last October I combined Poa Constrictor and Tenacity on the day of seeding (This reduced my seed Germination rate, but I also did not see Poa in many of the trouble spots). Late February I repeated with the addition of QuickSilver.

Ethofumesate will rough up KBG. The 10 to 20% KBG I have looked sickly going into December. It recovered during spring. Use with care.

I sprayed about a 2×2 area and I didnt see any thing happening for several weeks. But eventually I did see some noticable browning and die off in that area. It does work but it took a while to see anything. I also may have went a little light on the app rate though
